The only part that seemed at all dodgy was crossing the one snowfield (not the one at the peak), but otherwise it seemed like one of the best cared-for trails I've been on in the last four weeks (but I wasn't exactly inspecting the retaining walls along the way). Sadly the next day, a 9 year old boy died in a rock slide. Apparently a rock wall gave way. Was the Lassen Peak trail in poor condition when you were there? I'm trying to spend more time on the 20-yard hill here in Illinois to keep it down to 2 days next month.
